No. Spark AirNodes pay a flat monthly reward regardless of uptime.

How much can I earn by Operating an AirNode?

Earnings depend on the AirNode model. Spark AirNodes earn a flat monthly fee, while other models earn based on uptime and traffic. The AirNode Earnings Calculator provides a reliable estimate based on your device and deployment.

Where do the rewards come from?

AirNode rewards vary based on AirNode type. Spark AirNodes earn a flat reward for the Operator, while other AirNode models generate rewards based on network uptime and performance.

Can I operate multiple AirNodes from one Dashboard?

Yes. The AirNode Dashboard supports managing multiple devices under one account.

Do I need to live in the same country as my AirNode?

No. You can operate an AirNode remotely from anywhere in the world using the online Dashboard.

How do you become an Operator?

Portal and Titan AirNodes are operated by collaborating with a Host. Link, Apex, and Spark AirNodes are operated remotely via the online dashboard – no Host required.

For Portal and Titan AirNodes:

  • Use the Explorer to find a Host who will deploy and manage the AirNode for you.
  • Discuss and agree on terms, then finalise your purchase.
  • Work with your Host to get your AirNode deployed. We will guide you through installation steps and in some cases, finding the right installer.

For Link AirNodes, Spark AirNodes, and Apex AirNodes:

  • These AirNodes are already deployed, so you don’t have to find a Host. This makes it even easier to get started as an Operator.
  • Simply select an available hex on the Explorer and purchase.
  • Your AirNodes will automatically be activated once the purchase process is completed.
How do you become a Host?
  • Register Interest: Apply through the World Mobile AirNode sales platform and complete the form to begin the verification process.
  • Create your Host profile: Once verified, you’ll be able to create a Host Profile, which provides details about you and your location.
  • Installation: Facilitate the installation of the AirNode on your property.
  • Operation: Support Operators’ maintenance requirements.
Who can become an AirNode Host, Operator, or Host-Operator?

Anyone with the right setup can become part of the network.

  • Operator: You need to be financially capable of purchasing AirNodes. Operators typically oversee the device’s performance remotely using the AirNode Dashboard.
  • Host-Operator: A Host-Operator meets both sets of requirements: property permissions and infrastructure on one hand, and financial capability to purchase AirNodes on the other.
How can you join the World Mobile network?

The AirNode layer of the World Mobile network is made up of Hosts, Operators, and Host-Operators.

  • Hosts provide a physical location for installation
  • Operators manage performance from anywhere in the world and earn from AirNode usage
  • Host-Operators do both - hosting the AirNode and managing its operation
What are AirNodes? How do they work within the World Mobile network?

AirNodes are the backbone of World Mobile’s decentralized network. They are wireless devices that deliver last-mile wireless coverage, connecting users to voice, text, and data services without relying on traditional mobile towers. Instead of infrastructure controlled by corporations, AirNodes are smaller, community-operated devices that bring connectivity to homes, shops, neighborhoods, and towns.

Each AirNode acts as a local access point, replacing the last-mile connection typically run by Big Wireless. They connect to the broader World Mobile network through the Internode API, forming a hybrid mesh that scales from the ground up.

While each AirNode type varies in range and capability, the mission is the same: replace centralized towers with a distributed network that delivers connectivity where it is needed most.

When a user connects to an AirNode, the Operator processes that activity such as calls, messages, and data while preserving user privacy. In return, Operators earn rewards based on the volume of traffic their AirNode supports.

AirNodes are not owned by World Mobile. Once purchased, they belong to the Operators who deploy them, maintain them, and earn from the value they help create.

Anyone can operate an AirNode remotely from anywhere in the world. If you want to host an AirNode on the ground, or host and operate one locally, you’ll need to be in a World Mobile licensed region. Either way, you can help build the next generation of mobile infrastructure.

AirNode Types:

  • Wi-Fi AirNodes (short range): Covering a radius of up to 150m, they’re ideal for homes, shops, and small, dense neighborhoods.
  • CBRS AirNodes (medium range): Using high-frequency signals, these are perfect for small towns and dense neighborhoods.
  • Band 71 AirNodes (long range): Using low-frequency signals that stretch far, these provide ‘overwatch’ coverage and support other AirNodes in the area.

Click here to explore the AirNode range and find the right one for you.

How are rewards calculated?

Your AirNode earns based on uptime and network activity—the more people connected, the greater the rewards. Use our earnings calculator to estimate your potential revenue.
