Earning With Purpose: How an AirNode Operator and His Host Are Building a Better Network in Reno

Earning With Purpose: How an AirNode Operator and His Host Are Building a Better Network in Reno

Kaloyan Rakov. Founder of Clover Nodes, has been building in the blockchain space for over 8 years.

His journey didn’t begin with wireless networks. It began at age 12, when his family arrived in the United States from Bulgaria with $2,000, two kids, and no knowledge of English. He was selling newspapers by nine, learning that hard work and proactiveness can pave paths no system will hand you.

Armed by this spirit, Kal went on to build web3 communities and back decentralized systems before most people had even heard the term.

But when it came to telecom, he saw something different. A system with massive potential, yet locked in place.

A Market Ready for Change

Kal was right to see the opportunity.  Research shows that mobile data traffic is forecast to grow with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 20% through the end of 2029. The global telecom services market is valued at $1.98 trillion in 2024 and forecast to grow at 6.5% annually through 2030, driven by the roll-out of 5G and rising demand for high-speed internet in emerging economies.

There’s no shortage of demand. No shortage of technological promise.

So why has so little changed?

Because it still has the same players in control. The same centralized models and top-down incentives that reward shareholder profit over user value. Legacy network operators – whom we collectively call Big Wireless - are building where connectivity most profitable, not where people need it most.

Telecom, while showing tremendous promise, is stagnant. Monopolized. Waiting to be revolutionized.

World Mobile brought that revolution to life.

When Kal saw the World Mobile mission - build a people-powered network and share the value with those who run it - it was exactly what he needed to get into decentralized telecom.

So he took action.

Ownership that Builds

Kal had already visited Reno, Nevada, and experienced the reality himself: overpriced data contracts, spotty network coverage on the outskirts, and unhappy customers.

So when World Mobile launched its first AirNode sales, Kal jumped in. He purchased two AirNodes in Reno and deployed them in areas where connectivity was needed most.

The onboarding process was clear. The setup was simple. The support was ongoing. Kal activated both AirNodes without friction, and watched them go to work.

But he didn’t do this alone. Kal, the AirNode Operator, was only half the equation. The other half was the Host, Amariah Hash.

Connectivity Through Collaboration

Known to most as Ammo or CB, Amariah is the Host behind Clover Nodes’ AirNodes in Reno, Nevada. He’s a Web3 enthusiast who’s spent years exploring the future of decentralized systems. But more than that, he’s someone who believes deeply in ensuring access for the people around him.

He lives in northwest Reno with his wife, two daughters, and mother-in-law, not far from the Sierra Nevadas.  The views are beautiful. The connectivity, less so.

“When you go just a few minutes outside downtown,” he explains, “you hit the Swiss cheese problem. The 5G bars disappear. Sometimes you’re lucky to get a signal at all.”

That’s not just an inconvenience - it’s a deliberate gate on opportunity, especially for those living on the edge of service areas. And Ammo has never been comfortable with that.

Before Reno, he and his wife ran a soccer program for special-needs children - kids often overlooked by traditional sports teams. It was a space where inclusion wasn’t just a nice-to-have; it was the whole point. That same spirit drew him to World Mobile.

“I saw what you were doing in Africa - giving fishermen the ability to get their catch to market just because they now had connectivity. That clicked for me. It’s the same principle: give underserved people the tools, and they’ll do the rest.”

When he heard World Mobile was expanding to Reno, he reached out to host. He wanted in on the mission.

Hosting With Purpose

Hosting an AirNode for Ammo isn’t about profit - it’s about purpose. It’s about giving people in his neighborhood, whether in new housing developments, small ranches, or desert homes, a better option. Something they can rely on and afford.

“The installation process was fun. Engineers on ladders. Kids in the yard. There was a sense of community through the process. It felt like family.”

That’s exactly what World Mobile is building:  a network powered by people like Amariah Hash. People who don’t wait for better - they build it. Who don’t just talk about decentralization - they make it happen, one AirNode at a time.

Today, those AirNodes generate income daily. They deliver service to people who’ve been ignored for years. Ammo checks them regularly to ensure they’re working. Kal tracks the movement of data, the uptime, the earnings.

But more importantly, both of them see the impact - real connectivity that benefits the lives of real people.

“It was a no-brainer. There were too many people being underserved. This was a real chance to do something different - something useful. So we did it.” - Kaloyan Rakov, Founder, Clover Nodes

Earning With Purpose, Building for Everyone

To Kal, the rewards matter because of where they go.

He reinvests every dollar back into the network - into building an ecosystem that’s controlled by the people. This is what active participation looks like.

Kal also joint-operates the X account of the World Mobile Alliance, an organization that’s been active since early 2023, steadily growing its reach with every new AirNode drop, update, and strategic milestone.

These conversations don’t just broadcast updates – they stimulate discussion around running the world’s first decentralized telecom network. Guests have included World Mobile team members - even CEO Micky Watkins, early network adopters, and telecom engineers curious about the shift toward decentralization. Kal and his peers explain staking, walk newcomers through hosting and operating AirNodes, and break down updates with clarity and context.

He’s also a consistent voice amplifying every update we post on our own X account.  Ask the community who amplifies every drop, every launch, every update - and you’ll hear one name: Clover Nodes.

This is ownership with purpose. This is reclaiming power.

Not just a promise. A shared participation in a real network, expanding every day. Because people like Kal didn’t wait for permission.

And neither should you.

"I owe much of my own success to the internet and recognise that without it, I would not be where I am today. This is why I am incredibly passionate about providing internet access to people across the globe.” - Kaloyan Rakov, Founder, Clover Nodes

Reclaim power. Build the future.
