Decentralized networks don’t build themselves - they’re powered by the people who run them. At the core of World Mobile’s unstoppable infrastructure are EarthNodes, the validators, processors, and backbone of the network. They don’t just keep the system running - they make decentralized, community-owned connectivity a reality.
If you’ve ever wondered how World Mobile operates without the top-down control of traditional telcos, EarthNodes are the answer.
Let’s break it down - how they work, how they fuel the sharing economy, and how they reward those who help run them.
What is an EarthNode?
EarthNodes are the heartbeat of World Mobile, forming the foundation of a private, secure, and decentralized mobile network. You get the rights to operate an EarthNode within the World Mobile network through the World Mobile EarthNode NFTs (ENNFTs. As the backbone of the ecosystem, EarthNodes:
- Process transactions on the World Mobile Chain
- Authenticate and verify users through decentralized identity (DID)
- Secure data while ensuring privacy and ownership remain in the hands of users
- Connect all other node types to create a seamless, decentralized ecosystem
EarthNodes can be operated from anywhere in the world. This means that anyone with the right setup can participate in running the network, earning rewards for providing essential services.
The Power of EarthNodes: A Decentralized Future
Instead of one centralized entity controlling access, EarthNodes distribute power across a global network of independent operators.
This means:
- Decentralized identity (DID) protects user data without third-party control
- A fairer, more transparent system where no single company dictates how the network operates
- A self-sustaining ecosystem where every transaction strengthens the network and benefits its participants
Running an EarthNode isn’t just about keeping the network operational - it’s about redefining who owns and profits from telecom infrastructure.
Inside an EarthNode: How It Works
EarthNodes are modular, adaptable devices built for efficiency. They run multiple functions that keep the network secure and operational.
The Core Modules of an EarthNode
- Decentralized Identity (DID) Module – Handles authentication and credential management, giving users secure, self-sovereign identities
- Blockchain Module – Processes transactions, records them on a distributed ledger, and ensures data remains private and immutable
- Telecom Module – Routes traffic from users, optimizing speed and efficiency
Operators must run the blockchain module, but they have the flexibility to choose other modules based on their setup. The Internode API connects everything - ensuring seamless communication between all nodes in the World Mobile ecosystem.
Earning Rewards: How EarthNodes Pay Back Operators
Being an EarthNode Operator is an opportunity to earn a share of the ecosystem’s growth while ensuring the health of the lifeline of the network.
- Every transaction processed generates rewards - paid directly in World Mobile Token (WMTx)
- Operators earn based on the services they run and the amount of traffic they process
- More network activity means higher rewards, creating an incentive to maintain high-quality infrastructure
EarthNodes offer a sustainable way to earn from decentralized connectivity, whether Operators use their own hardware or cloud-based solutions.
This is why EarthNodes are highly sought after - they don’t just support the network; they make decentralized telecom profitable for the people running it.
How to Get an EarthNode
EarthNodes were first made available to WMTx holders in 2021, with reservations requiring a stake of at least 100,000 WMT. Those who met this requirement received an EarthNode NFT, representing ownership of their node.
When some reserved nodes were canceled, the EarthNode Auction opened on 31 May 2022, giving WMTx holders a second chance to claim their place at the core of the network.
EarthNodes are now also available on the secondary market on JPGstore.
