Building the Network You Can Own: AirNode Sales Now Live in Reno

The AirNode Sales platform is now officially live in Reno, Nevada.

This marks a revolutionary step forward in our work to expand decentralized mobile coverage across the United States.

After months of field testing, research, and community engagement in Reno, we are now inviting individuals to actively participate in the buildout of a new kind of mobile network - one that is community-powered, reward-driven, and designed for long-term growth.

What We Discovered in Reno

When we began mapping Reno in 2023, we uncovered a broken truth. Even in a city bursting with tech optimism, connectivity faltered. Signals dropped indoors. High-traffic zones like the airport failed to deliver. We placed one radio on a rooftop and within 24 hours, over 10,000 unique devices tried to connect. Another test saw 130,000 connection attempts in just one month.

The demand was real. The gaps were deep. And the old telco model wasn’t going to fix it.

So we did something different. We asked: what if ownership solved coverage?

Why AirNodes Matter

The AirNode is more than hardware. It’s a way to take back control.

It connects people to World Mobile’s decentralized network using CBRS or Band 71 spectrum - licensed in Nevada, California, Utah, and New Mexico. It delivers high-speed coverage. It operates across rural and urban terrain. And it pays out rewards to those who power it.

That payout doesn’t go to shareholders. It goes to real people. Owners. Operators. Hosts.

You can purchase an AirNode directly. You can host one on your rooftop. Or you can fund someone else’s deployment remotely. Every route unlocks earnings from data traffic - and every connection strengthens a network we control together.

A System Built to Scale

This launch begins with 20 AirNodes in Reno. Each one part of a growing wave that will ripple through the U.S. and beyond. Over time, we’ll introduce new batches, expanded locations, and broader hardware options.

We’ve designed this system with flexibility and fairness in mind. Our Scan for Points app helped shape these deployment zones based on real coverage feedback. That same transparency will guide every new step.

This isn’t Big Wireless dropping towers from the sky. It’s people placing nodes where they’re needed - powered by the community, owned by the community, and rewarded by the community.

With our AirNode Sales Platform, we are revolutionizing the way people access and provide connectivity, Our platform allows anyone to purchase, host, or operate an AirNode, and earn rewards for doing so. This is a win-win situation for everyone involved, as it lowers the barriers to entry and increases mobile network coverage and quality. Reno is our first destination, but we have big plans to scale up and reach more regions in the future. — Micky Watkins, CEO, World Mobile
Our AirNode Sales Platform is a novel approach that integrates our decentralized AirNode infrastructure and our sharing economy concept. Our platform allows users to buy, host, or operate an AirNode, incentivized by rewards. We are using licensed and shared spectrum to create a strong and versatile network that can cater to a varied and growing user base. Reno is our starting point, and we are eager to see the impact. — James Tagg, Chief Architect, World Mobile

What Comes Next

This announcement comes as we receive the GSMA Foundry Excellence Award at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona - recognition for our aerostat deployment in Mozambique and the impact of our decentralized approach.

But awards aren’t the goal. Ownership is.

We believe connectivity should never be a luxury. It should be local. It should be liberating. And it should be yours.
