Introducing World Mobile Chain Developer Mainnet: A Genesis Moment for Decentralized Connectivity

Today marks the genesis of something transformative. The Dev Mainnet for World Mobile Chain is now live. This is the first operational release of the world’s only Layer 3 blockchain designed specifically for DePIN and telecom applications. It is engineered to handle real network data from day one, providing the foundation for a more open, resilient, and community-owned mobile network.

What is the Developer Mainnet Launch?

The Dev Mainnet is a permissioned version of World Mobile Chain that enables selected builders to deploy and test real-world applications. This is not a testnet. It is a production-grade blockchain that already processes live telecom data using a phased rollout approach to ensure long-term scalability.

Built to Power the Future of Telecom

World Mobile Chain is a purpose-built Layer 3. It leverages Arbitrum Orbit for customizability and settles on Base for Ethereum-grade security. It is optimized to handle the demands of decentralized infrastructure, telecom-grade payloads, and scalable, real-time data validation.

At the core of World Mobile Chain are EarthNodes – securing the network and processing telco data while ensuring true data sovereignty. As the Chain progresses to public mainnet, EarthNode Operators will remain at the heart of the revolution – ensuring that the applications built on it are secure, transparent, and owned collectively.

Built on Progress. Driven by Results

Over the last year, we pushed the limits of blockchain technology through a series of architectural developments and testnets. Each iteration brought new breakthroughs, culminating in our latest architecture: a Layer 3 rollup built on Arbitrum and settling on Base.

The results of this mainnet candidate speak for themselves:

  • 148 million transactions processed
  • 0.3 second average block time
  • 115 million onchain addresses created
  • 7 million daily transactions on average
  • Achieved 544 transactions per second (TPS) during testing, with the potential to surpass 700 TPS in live conditions

This is real, resilient infrastructure - stress-tested at scale.

A Phased Rollout Strategy

Building real infrastructure demands trust, resilience, and performance. By starting permissioned, we:

  • Ensure robust performance under real load
  • Invite high-quality builders and partners
  • Prepare for the transition to full public decentralization

This approach ensures that once public ownership begins, it starts from a place of strength.

To manage growth and validate performance, we are rolling out the Dev Mainnet in six deliberate phases:

  1. Fee calibration test
  1. Base fee and base transactions test
  1. Payload 1 test
  1. Payload 2 test
  1. Payload 3 test
  1. Multi-payload testing

During these phases, we will be verifying critical network capabilities including IPDRs, DIDs, and payment transfers. Each step moves us closer to building a network that is resilient, transparent, and ready to support real-world use at scale. So by the time we open to the broader community, the chain will be ready for anything.

Partners Already Building

Organizations like IABG, PwC, and 51nodes are already building real-world applications on the World Mobile Chain. These aren’t experiments. They are live, high-impact deployments that showcase how decentralized infrastructure can solve problems traditional telecom networks cannot.

  • PwC is building an enterprise-grade self-sovereign identity (SSI) solution on the World Mobile Chain. This application empowers individuals to control their digital identity while enabling organizations to verify credentials securely and efficiently. It reflects a growing demand for identity systems that respect privacy and are built for a decentralized future.
  • IABG, a European leader in aerospace and infrastructure systems, has partnered with 51nodes, a blockchain development firm, to launch a tokenized environmental data initiative powered by the World Mobile Chain. Their work enables secure, verifiable data collection and sharing from environmental sensors, laying the groundwork for real-time, decentralized environmental monitoring.

Each of these partners is solving real-world challenges with blockchain-enabled tools. What unites them is a belief in the power of decentralization to increase transparency, resilience, and collective ownership. Their early adoption signals that the World Mobile Chain is not only technically sound, but ready to support scalable, mission-critical applications across industries.

The Movement Accelerates

We’re not here to refine the old system. We’re here to replace it.

World Mobile Chain Dev Mainnet is the final step towards the public mainnet launch. It’s forms a springboard for anyone, anywhere, who believes in decentralized telecom ownership to build on a secure, stress-tested blockchain custom-built for the industry.

This launch is the culmination of years of relentless engineering, constant global collaboration, and a firm belief that connectivity is a human right that deserves to reach everybody, owned by everybody.

“The launch of Dev Mainnet marks a genesis moment in global connectivity. It’s proof that decentralized telecom isn’t just possible; it’s inevitable. We’re building the infrastructure of the future, owned and powered by the people.” - Micky Watkins, CEO, World Mobile

The future of telecom is decentralized.
The future of connectivity is collective.
That future begins an exciting new chapter – starting now.
