The new World Mobile App is here.

This latest release marks a new chapter in how our community contributes to the network. The design is cleaner. The navigation is simpler. Every feature now supports one clear goal: to make scanning more simple, meaningful, and intuitive.  

The app now speaks the same language as our movement. It’s direct. It’s decisive. It’s designed for action.

The Heart of It All: Scan for Points

We’ve rebuilt the World Mobile Android app to do one thing exceptionally well: help you shape the network with every scan.

Scan Wi-Fi signals. Scan cellular coverage. Scan for a future that puts power in your hands.

Each scan earns you Points. These Points unlock badges, track your progress, and place you on a live leaderboard with thousands of other scanners worldwide. The more you scan, the more you shape the network.

And that’s not all. We’re planning to make your Points redeemable within the World Mobile ecosystem in the future. Stay tuned for more updates.

What’s New?

• Badges: We’ve added 10 new badges to earn, each one celebrating a different milestone. And if you scanned before June 10, 2024, check your badge shelf - you’re already a Pioneer.

• Scan History: See your journey. Track your scans month by month and watch your impact grow.‍
• Picture-in-Picture: Keep the app scanning while you use other apps with picture-in-picture mode.
• ‍Custom Usernames: Customize your public username and leave a unique imprint on the global leaderboard.

A Cleaner, More Focused App

As part of this update, we’ve simplified the user journey by retiring certain features that weren't as central to the core experience. That includes:

• WUCs and the Shop: Utility credits and gift card purchases have been retired.
• If you are a customer in Zanzibar, your remaining WUCs balance will be available to use on the captive portal. If you're located outside Zanzibar, we'll get back to you within 60 days with instructions on how to redeem or request reimbursement. If you created your account using a self-sovereign ID only, please contact support for assistance.‍
• Crypto Wallet: The wallet has been retired from the app. Users with existing wallets can still view their seed words to restore access using external wallets. ‍
• Scan Modes: Smart Mode, proven during beta testing, is now the default and only scan setting. This removes the confusion of all the other modes. ‍
• Live Chat: Live chat is temporarily paused for a backend update.

Every change was made to sharpen the experience, pushing us closer to the kind of app that serves the movement, not complexity.
